Kit Leaver Counsellor and Supervisor
British association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

As a counsellor, I will offer you a confidential space to explore the issues you are facing, the questions of meaning and possibilities of resolution; to work through difficult emotions and look for peace with the past. I work with people on issues around depression, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, bereavement, past trauma and abuse, identity and diversity. Your sessions will be a place where you can have the freedom to be; to develop your own integrity, accept yourself and make positive decisions about your future. My beliefs underpin my work. The values I hold, of loving unconditionally, forgiveness, reconciliation, humility, being non-judgemental, having mercy, being kind, having integrity, valuing spirituality, exercising free will wisely; all sit with the humanistic perspective of counselling and therapy. I value learning and wisdom, exchange, challenge and intuition.

I offer brief and medium-term counselling and work with a number of Employee Assistance Programmes. I can also provide telephone counselling and couples counselling. Contact me for a free initial discussion.

I also offer clinical supervision.

Breathworks Mindfulness

I believe we each have an innate tendency to grow, find meaning in our lives and connect – with ourselves and others. However, we may lose touch with this tendency, and this can make us unhappy.
As a person-centred therapist, accredited with the BACP, I work to facilitate a process of change that is right for you. You are the expert on your life, not me. My role is not to ‘fix’ or advise you, but to help you see more clearly what is causing your suffering in order for you to grow and develop with increased peace of mind and confidence.
I’ve seen this process take place quickly sometimes, over just a few sessions. But it may also require patience and commitment. This too is something we will discuss and reflect upon if you choose to work with me.
I am a qualified and experienced mindfulness trainer for groups, and I also offer one-to-one sessions. While this practice is distinct from my counselling and psychotherapy work, mindfulness has helped me to become a more attentive and aware therapist. I hope that you too may benefit from this quality as we work together.

David Knight
David KnightCognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT)
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 28 years experience helping people understand and overcome their psychological problems. I specialise in the treatment of Obsessive Spectrum Disorders. These include Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Pure O (Intrusive Thoughts), Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Muscle Dysmorphia and Health Anxiety. I do also treat other psychological problems.
I specialise in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). CBT focusses on helping you understand the patterns of Negative Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviours that maintain your problems. It then puts in place a program of techniques and exercises that gradually modify this pattern to a healthier one, helping you to overcome your problems. EMDR is a technique used to help process traumatic memories like in PTSD. It is a very rapid way of calming these memories so they no longer trouble you.
I am committed to ensuring that every patient I see receives the best treatment to help them overcome their problems. Everyone is an individual and needs a tailor made programme based on the most effective evidence based treatment techniques.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I provide a service that combines several therapeutic practices; all aimed towards helping you feel whole again. Including, Integrative Person Centered Therapy- PCT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- CBT & Transactional Analysis- TA)

In recent years, my work has focused strongly on addiction, trauma and issues around sexuality. I also have a particular focus on identity, self-worth and boundaries. We are what we think and what we think governs how we feel – our beliefs shape our reality.

My role is to help you process and integrate whatever it is you are struggling with, supporting you on your journey to improved mental and emotional wellbeing.

I offer sessions online and in-person. I also offer outdoor therapy in parks and the countryside, including specific locations in Trafford, Cheshire & the Peak District. It has been scientifically proven that nature has a healing effect on the mind and body. Unlike indoor settings, nature’s ever-changing canvas amplifies self-discovery, encouraging mindfulness and self-reflection.

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have with a free 20-minute discovery call.

Everyone comes to therapy with a loss, whether that is a bereavement, a relationship break-up, changes in health, the loss of a friendship, a change of job, etc. There are many different endings that we go through in life. Therapy is a safe and supportive place to talk, it provides the opportunity to process what has happened and to explore who you are now and how you can move forward. Therapy is a place where you can say out loud all of those things you can’t say elsewhere. You can talk about things you may not feel able to talk about with friends or family.

I am a Person-Centred therapist with an academic background in philosophy and psychology. I have a keen interest in existentialism and how we find meaning in our lives. I am also trained in Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I have worked as a therapist in the NHS and for different national and local charities. I have particularly extensive experience working with bereavement, pregnancy loss (miscarriage and termination), work-related stress, relationship issues, and with anxiety and depression.
